Can a visa be transferred to a new passport?

Visas are linked both physically (sticker) or electronically (eVisa, eTA, ESTA) to the passport that you used to apply for your visa application. Most countries don't allow visas to be transferred to another passport — you will have to apply for a new visa. However, some countries may allow you to submit a visa transfer request at an additional cost, which can take between 5 to 30 days to complete before the passports are returned to you.
